Here is the flyer we give out to folks who special order titles:
Dear Customer: Thank you for your Special order. While we receive most special orders in two to four weeks, sometimes (for a variety of unpredictable reasons) it takes longer. If there is any delay, we will attempt to keep you informed of progress – although the quality of information varies greatly among our dozens of suppliers.
Once we receive your order, we will call or email you several times. We cannot keep your book indefinitely, so if we don’t hear from you or if you don’t come for it after one month we will put it on sale. If it sells we will refund your deposit when we hear from you. If we asked you for a 100% deposit (necessary for texts, scientific, technical, reference, specialized books or bibles), we will keep you book for three months and then put it on sale. If you come in, we will give you the book. If it sells, we will refund 100% of your deposit.
If we accepted your special order and deposit, it is because we feel there is a reasonably good expectation we will receive your book within 60 days. If we find your book will be delayed, we ask if you wish to continue to wait. Also, there is a good chance we cannot sell your special order to anyone else, so you are committing to buy the book when it comes in. Please note that all orders must be paid before we can deliver the book.
If it appears your book will be delayed, we will refund your deposit either by credit card credit, store credit, or gift certificate.
